How does diagnostic ophthalmic technology at City Eye Centre help detect your eye conditions early? Ophthalmic technology has advanced at an extremely rapid rate in recent times. Innovative eye imaging technology such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA) is now an integral part of comprehensive eye care.
At City Eye Centre, we will provide you with the most accurate diagnosis and treatment and utilize the latest scanning instruments to examine your eyes. City Eye Centre is part of the global Advanced Retinal Imaging (ARI) network and one of the few eye centres in Australia with the cutting-edge OCT Plex Elite. Our OCT Plex Elite provides ultra-high resolution cross-sectional images of the eye to assist in the diagnosis of a wide range of retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, central serous retinopathy, and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. The OCT is also very important in monitoring treatment outcomes for macular degeneration.
Our ultra-widefield fundus photography and fluorescein angiography allow 200º of the retina to be imaged. The ability to document your retinal health through these special cameras allows our doctors to detect early changes, make prompt diagnosis and monitor your condition in the most comprehensive way. This is of particular importance in peripheral retinal diseases, in patients who are short-sighted or have suffered from eye trauma in the past.
What our doctors see on the scans from your diagnostic imaging can sometimes also help in the detection of general health conditions. In these instances, our doctors will liase with your GPs or other medical specialists and this will result in prompt diagnosis and treatment.
Our eye specialists remain at the forefront of clinical advances and are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality of eye care through the latest technological developments.
