Dr Lawrence Lee is a leading eye specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon in Brisbane. He has over 25 years of experience specialising in cataract, medical and surgical retinal diseases.

Dr Lee’s training and hospital appointments
Dr Lee undertook his ophthalmology specialist training in Brisbane and completed a Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the Sydney Eye Hospital. He pursued further retinal training with the eminent Professor Donald Gass at the Ophthalmology Department of Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, USA. Dr Lee later worked at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. There, he managed complex retinal diseases and vitreoretinal surgery.
Following his fellowship training, Dr Lee returned to Brisbane and commenced private practice on Wickham Terrace in 1998. In addition to private practice, Dr Lee holds a public hospital appointment as a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Queensland Children’s Hospital. He is also the Director of Ophthalmology at the St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Brisbane.

Dr Lee is well-recognized for his expertise in the treatment of macular degeneration, retinal detachment, cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, and eye trauma. Dr Lee’s commitment to teaching and professional development
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Lee is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Queensland. He devotes much of his time to the training of medical students, ophthalmology registrars and fellows. Dr Lee serves as the current Chairman of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) Continuing Professional Development Committee. Furthermore, he sits on the College Council and the Editorial Committee for Journal of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.
Dr Lee is a member of The American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists (ANZSRS), and the Asia Pacific Vitreoretinal Society (APVRS). He regularly speaks at national and international conferences. His published work includes over 200 journal articles, conference papers and book chapters.
