Dr Jennifer Chen is a clinical optometrist who graduated with First Class Honours, and was awarded with a University Medal from QUT. Being a top ten doctoral candidate in Australia, Dr Chen completed her PhD and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the field of myopia development, electrodiagnostic studies of retinal processing pathways and retinal disorders.

Dr Chen has extensive expertise with over 20 years of experience having worked in private practice, research, academia, and ophthalmology practice. Dr Chen is a therapeutically endorsed optometrist and is a member of the Optometrist Association Australia and the Association for Vision and Ophthalmology. For over a decade, Dr Chen acted as a Governor-appointed assessor on the Professional Conduct Review Panel, Queensland Health.

Dr Chen has a strong interest in clinical research and has authored scientific papers in optometry and ophthalmology journals and book chapters on macular surgery. She has collaborated with research teams and presented at international meetings in Asia and USA. Dr Chen also coordinates clinical research trials at City Eye Centre on new treatments of eye diseases for FDA approvals.

Dr Chen was one of the early advocates in Australia of the significant clinical benefits of OCT imaging technology to patient care. She has particular interest in the development of wide-field high-definition OCT angiography and the application of imaging modalities in diseases of the retina. Dr Chen is passionate about using modern ophthalmic diagnostic technology to help patients gain a better understanding of their eye conditions and improve treatment outcomes.
